There are many ways to get legal help in NSW. A solicitor may be the best help in most circumstances, but there are many other options where you may find assistance with your legal issue:

- Child Support Agency – makes sure that parents provide children with financial support after a separation.
- Community Justice Centres can help if you are on low income or disadvantages.
- Australian Consumers’ Association helps with consumer rights. Their website has many interesting articles about tips, tricks and even draft letters of complaint.
- NSW Office of Fair Trading can help you with consumer disputes, car purchase issues; home building disputes, credit and tenancy issues. They even provide language assistance.
- Family Court of Australia web site provides a very useful ‘Do It Yourself Kits’.
- Immigration Advice and Rights Centre (IARC) is a free legal centre for immigration law.
- Aboriginal Law Service (NSW/ACT) also provides legal help for indigenous Australians.
